IT Essentials
Computer cases are opened in following ways:
- The Computer case cover can be removed as one piece.
- The top and side panels of the case can be removed.
- The top of the case may need to be removed before the side panels can be removed.
1. CPU and the heat sink/fan are installed on the motherboard.
The CPU is secured to the socket on the motherboard. The sockets are ZIF sockets.
Thermal compound helps to keep the CPU cool.
The heat sink/fan is a two-part cooling device. It has a 3-pin power connector.
2. RAM is installed in the motherboard. RAM is volatile memory, the contents are lost when the computer is shut down.
3. Install the Motherboard on the case.
4. Install internal drives, e.g. the HDD (3.5-inch drive bay).
5. Optical drive is a storage device that reads and writes information to CDs and DVDs. A Molex power connector provides the optical drive with power. A PATA able connects the optical drive to the motherboard. (5.25-inch drive bay).
6. A FDD (Floppy disk drive) is a storage device, connected to the power supply through the Ber power connector and with the floppy data cable to the motherboard (3.5-inch bay).
Power cables are used to distribute electricity from the power supply to the motherboard and other components. Data cables: data between the motherboard and storage devices. Additional cables: buttons and link lights on the front of the computer.
Motherboard Power Connections: ATX has 20 or 24 pins. The power has a 4-pin or a 6-pin Auxiliary (AUX). A 20-pin works with a 24-pin socket.
SATA Power Connectors: they connect HDDs, optical drives and use a 15-pin connector.
Molex Power Connectors: HDDs and optical drives that do not use a SATA power socket.
Berg Power Connectors: supplies power to a floppy drive, 4 pins.
PATA cables: three 40-pin connectors.
SATA cables: 7-pin connectors.
Floppy data cables: 34-pin connectors.

Bei mir stehen heute wieder mal die Kühe am Programm, uröd
Hab am Freitag um 7.30 heek Prüfung, aber meine Kommission ist nicht so schlecht wie ich heute erfahren habe.
Nur der Wiederkäuermensch....von dem hab ich ein bisserl ein Trauma seit meiner Prop.Prüfung mit dem Schaf (manche werden sich vielleicht erinnern)
